- Installing
the SchoolHouse Fonts
First-time instructions- Windows
users:
- 1. Whether your
software arrived by email or on a floppy disk,
double-click the file with the "running man" icon named
"SchoolHouseDNv4.EXE." or "SchoolHouseZBv4.EXE ". This
executable file is a compressed, self extracting archive.
You will need to extract the files from it and then
install the software. The extraction and installation
process begins once you double-click the running man
icon.
2. A "PKSFX" window
will open. We recommend leaving the "Destination" as
shown. Click the "Finish" button and then choose "Yes" in
the little dialog box which asks if your want to create a
new directory. Then click "OK" when notified that the
extraction is completed.
3. Read and accept
the license agreement. If you don't accept the license
agreement, the software will not install.
4. Click the
"Install" button and follow the prompts to completion.
Answer "Yes" to any overwrite queries.
5. Restart your
computer when advised to do so.
6. Go to
Start/Programs/vSchoolHouse Fonts and choose the Read Me.
Read it online, or print it out and read
it.

"SchoolHouse D'N v3.5.sea" file. After you click

suggest saving them to the desktop in the following
manner:
- - Choose "Desktop"
in the top box;
- Leave it named
"SchoolHouse Z-B (or D'N) v3.5" as listed in the "UnStuff
as:" box;
- Click "Save".
This will save the expanded files into a folder titled
"SchoolHouse * v3.5" on your desktop.
2) Double-click on the
"SchoolHouse Z-B (or D'N) v3.5" file on your desktop. Inside
you will find the installer. Double-click the installer and
follow the prompts to completion.
3) Open, print, and

instructions for using SchoolHouse Fonts.
Installing
an upgraded SchoolHouse Fonts:
- First, delete the original fonts from the Windows Fonts
folder (Start/Settings/Control Panel/Fonts) or the System
Folder's Fonts folder (Mac). Then, follow the first-time
installation procedures to completion.
Using
the Fonts
Non-connected cursive and printed style fonts:
- Use the non-connected cursive and printed style
SchoolHouse Fonts as you would any font on your computer.
You can access them directly from the Font menu of your
applications.
- The steps for using all but the connected-cursive
SchoolHouse Fonts are:
1.
Select a SchoolHouse font in your application's font
menu. All SchoolHouse font names begin with "SigA..."
(Zaner-BloserÅ style) or "SigB..."
(D'NealianÆ style).
2.
Select a font size. You will probably use the SchoolHouse
fonts at a larger point size than ordinary fonts. You can
experiment with different sizes in each style you wish to
use.
3.
Type your text. Add lined-spaces in fonts with guidelines
by typing the "grave accent" key (to the left of the "1"
key on your keyboard). Hold down the accent key to get a
whole line of lined-spaces.
Connected
cursive fonts:
- The connected cursive fonts (SigAConnect,
SigAConnectLn, SigBConnect, SigBConnectLn) require the use
of the SigSoft
Handwriter,
a simple conversion utility that is automatically installed
with the SchoolHouse Fonts. They should not be accessed from
the Font menu of applications like other fonts.
- The steps for converting text into connected cursive
fonts are:
1.
Create the worksheet or document in a regular
font.
2.
Highlight the text you wish to see in connected
handwriting.
3.
Open the SigSoft Handwriter (do not close your
document).
- In Windows 95, 98, and NT, find it in
Start\Programs\SchoolHouse Fonts.
- On the Mac, choose the SigSoft Handwriter alias in the
Apple menu.
4.
Choose your document's application (e.g. MS Word) in
"Source" in the SigSoft Handwriter.
5.
Choose the connected SchoolHouse Font in the "Font" list
of the SigSoft Handwriter.
6.
Click the W (Write) button.

punctuation common to many West European
languages.
Trouble
Shooting
If the
fonts don't show in your application's font menu:
1. Reboot.
2. (Windows only) Double-click on any of the SchoolHouse
Fonts (SigAPrint, SigBCursive, etc.) in the Windows Fonts
folder (Start/Settings/Control Panel/Fonts). If the font
displays "The quick brown fox..." in several point sizes,
click "Done" and return to your application. The fonts
should now be visible in the application's Font
menu.
The
letters in the connected cursive fonts are
disconnected.
- More than likely, you tried to convert text into your
handwriting by just choosing your font from the Font menu
instead of using the Sigsoft
Handwriter
to convert the regular text into handwriting. Read the Read
Me for more information on using the SigSoft
Handwriter.
